Writing Website Content That Sells to Sri Lankan Customers

Design attracts attention; words make the sale. Most business websites say too much about themselves and too little about the customer.

Lead with the customer’s problem

Instead of “We are a leading company…”, start with what the customer wants: “Get your online store live in three weeks.”

Be specific

Numbers, timelines, prices and examples are more convincing than adjectives. “Delivered in 14 days” beats “fast service”.

Answer objections

Price, trust, timelines, ownership and support, address them on the page, ideally in an FAQ.

Write for scanning

Short paragraphs, clear subheadings and bullet lists. Most visitors skim before they read.

Speak your customer’s language

Use the words they use. If many customers prefer Sinhala or Tamil, consider translated pages.
