How Much Does a Website Cost in Sri Lanka in 2026?

“How much is a website?” is the question we hear most. The honest answer is: it depends on what the website needs to do. But that doesn’t mean pricing has to be a mystery. Here’s how website pricing really works in Sri Lanka in 2026, and what to look for in a quote.

What you’re actually paying for

Every website quote is made up of the same building blocks. Understanding them makes it much easier to compare offers:

  • Design: layout, branding, how each page looks on phones, tablets and desktops.
  • Development: turning the design into a working site, forms, integrations and admin panel.
  • Content: text, images and product data. You can provide this yourself or have it prepared.
  • Domain: your address, like yourbusiness.lk or .com. Paid yearly, priced separately.
  • Hosting and email: where the website lives and your business mailboxes. Also yearly.
  • Support and maintenance: updates, backups, security and small changes after launch.

Typical scope and timelines by website type

Price follows scope. A good quote for any of these should include design, development, mobile responsiveness, basic performance optimisation, business email setup and a set number of revision hours:

Website typeTypically includesTypical timeline
Standard business website (up to 4 pages)Core pages, contact form, email setup~14 days
E-commerce store (up to 20 products)Shop, checkout, payments, delivery rules~21 days
Booking / appointment websiteAvailability calendar, notifications, payments~21 days
Hosting with SSL, backups and 2 emailsPaid yearlySame day
Monthly maintenancePaid monthly (optional)Ongoing

Web applications, custom plugins and marketplaces are quoted individually, because their scope varies so much.

What makes the price go up (or down)

  1. Number of unique page designs. Ten pages using one template cost less than five completely custom layouts.
  2. Functionality. Payments, booking calendars, multi-language, member logins and integrations each add development time.
  3. Product volume. Uploading 500 products with variants is real work, either your team does it or it’s quoted as an add-on.
  4. Content readiness. Projects move faster and cost less when text and images are ready on day one.
  5. Revisions. Clear feedback in one round is cheaper than many small rounds.

Hidden costs to ask about

Before you sign, ask every agency these questions:

  • Are domain and hosting included, and what do they cost to renew?
  • Are premium plugins or themes licensed in my name?
  • How many revision hours are included, and what’s the rate after that?
  • Will I own the website and all logins once it’s paid for?
  • What does support cost after launch?

A good agency answers all of these in writing. At VXCORE, everything outside the base package is optional and agreed before work starts, no surprise invoices.

Cheap vs. good value

The cheapest quote often skips the things that matter after launch: speed, security, backups, SEO basics and someone to call when something breaks. A slightly higher price that includes these is usually cheaper over three years than rebuilding a website that never worked properly.
